Opus IV – Obsidian Bloom is an abstract exploration of growth emerging from darkness. Deep, obsidian tones create a rich, almost volcanic backdrop, while layered textures and brighter accents push forward like petals, fragments, or new forms breaking through the surface. The composition feels like a bloom made of shadow and light, born in the quiet pressure beneath the visible world.
With this piece, I wanted to capture the moment where something new begins to form inside an environment that seems heavy, dense, or closed. The textured surface – created with acrylic and modeling paste – adds a physical depth that echoes this idea of hidden forces pushing outward. The contrasts between smooth and rough, matte and subtle shine, mirror the tension between what is contained and what is ready to emerge.
