About this artwork
Opus IX – Radiant Grid Eclipse is a bold mixed-media exploration of light, structure, and hidden tension. A geometric grid of luminous lines cuts through deep, dark fields, while circular forms and textured blocks suggest an eclipse unfolding within an ordered system. The painting feels like a moment of disruption inside a perfectly calculated pattern – the instant when light is partially obscured, yet somehow even more powerful.
Working with acrylics and modeling paste on canvas, I built up a sculptural surface where raised textures catch and reflect light differently as you move around the piece. The grid provides a sense of stability and control, but the circular shapes and subtle breaks in the pattern hint at movement, pressure, and transformation beneath the surface.
With Radiant Grid Eclipse, I wanted to express the idea that even in highly structured environments, there are forces we cannot fully contain – emotional, spiritual, or cosmic. The painting becomes a visual metaphor for those inner shifts: something is changing behind the facade, and that change radiates through every line.
As a self-taught Greek contemporary artist, I often explore the relationship between order and chaos, cosmic energy and human experience. This work is part of my Opus series, where each painting represents a different state of tension, balance, and release through color, form, and texture.
This piece works beautifully as a statement artwork in modern interiors, offices, studios, and minimalist spaces. Its strong geometry, tactile surface, and dramatic contrast between dark fields and radiant lines create a powerful focal point that invites both intellectual reflection and emotional response.
