Opus V: Celestial Tiles

About this artwork

Opus V – Celestial Tiles is an abstract exploration of order, rhythm, and cosmic energy. The surface is divided into tile-like segments, each one carrying its own subtle variations of color, light, and texture. At first glance, the grid suggests structure and control; but as you look closer, shifting tones and raised textures begin to reveal a sense of hidden movement beneath the surface.

With this piece, I wanted to capture the feeling of looking at a fragmented sky – as if the cosmos were broken into tiles, yet still pulsing with quiet energy. The interplay between the geometric layout and the organic imperfections inside each “cell” reflects the tension between human-made systems and the wildness of the universe. Nothing is perfectly flat or mechanically repeated; every tile is slightly different, holding its own story.

Created with acrylic paint and modeling paste on canvas, Opus V – Celestial Tiles has a distinctly tactile, almost sculptural presence. Light catches on the raised areas, making the painting change subtly as you move around it or as the day’s lighting shifts. From a distance, it reads as a bold, contemporary abstract; up close, a network of delicate details and textures emerges.

As a self-taught Greek contemporary artist, I often work with cosmic motifs, grids, orbits, and energetic patterns. This painting is part of my Opus series, where each work explores a different emotional and spiritual frequency through color, geometry, and texture. Celestial Tiles speaks about connection, fragmentation, and the quiet order hidden inside apparent chaos.

This artwork is ideal for modern living rooms, offices, hallways, or creative workspaces. Its structured composition and refined palette make it easy to integrate into minimalist or design-focused interiors, while its depth and texture invite contemplation and closer viewing over time.
