About this artwork
Opus VII – Blossoms Beyond the Fence is an abstract exploration of growth, resilience, and beauty that refuses to be contained. Bold textures and layered acrylics build a tactile surface where forms reminiscent of blossoms, branches, and structures push against invisible boundaries. The suggestion of a “fence” appears more as an energy field than a literal object, creating a tension between restriction and expansion.
In this piece, I wanted to express the feeling of something alive growing beyond its limits – ideas, emotions, or even a person breaking through what once held them back. The textured areas, created with acrylic and modeling paste, give the work a strong physical presence, while the flowing marks and organic shapes hint at petals, growth patterns, and quiet revolutions happening beneath the surface.
The composition balances geometric stability with gestural movement, reflecting my ongoing interest in the dialogue between order and chaos. As with other works in my Opus series, Blossoms Beyond the Fence is less about depicting a specific scene and more about capturing an emotional state and a turning point – the moment where something inside decides to grow anyway.
This acrylic and modeling paste painting reveals different details depending on the viewing distance. From afar, it reads as a striking, contemporary abstract with a sense of upward movement; up close, the textures, ridges, and layered strokes invite touch with the eyes.
As a self-taught Greek contemporary artist, I often work with textured mediums to explore rhythm, balance, and internal transformation. This piece is ideal for modern interiors, creative studios, and spaces where a sense of hope, renewal, and quiet strength is welcome. It can serve as both a bold visual statement and a reminder that beauty often grows beyond the limits we once believed were fixed.
