Opus XV – Phantom Gallop
70 × 100 cm – Mixed media on canvas
Spirits running free through nebulae and dawn – freedom born from color and light.
In this work, I wanted to capture the feeling of a gallop that has already passed, but whose energy still vibrates in the air.
I began with a fluid acrylic pouring base, letting deep blues, purples and magenta tones flow into organic waves and cells. These layers create a sense of cosmic weather – like storm clouds or distant galaxies in motion. Over this, I added curved red lines that trace invisible paths, as if following the echo of hooves.
At the center, a dark rectangular field acts as a portal. Inside it, horses slowly appear through raised modeling paste and dotted patterns, their forms half-seen, half-remembered. They are phantoms of movement rather than literal animals – symbols of the urge to break free, to move beyond our own boundaries.
Phantom Gallop is part of my Opus series, where I explore the interplay between chaos and structure, light and shadow, matter and spirit. It invites the viewer to stand still for a moment and feel the tension between the restless background and the concentrated energy at the core.
